The Honda Insight is an all-new, hybrid-only sedan resembling the Toyota Prius, but starting from a lower price. The Insight's easy-to-drive nature and affordable price make it a worthy Prius-fighter.
Car and Driver ranks the 2010 Insight number one in comparison test.
In the July 2009 edition of Car and Driver, a comparison test titled "Mileage Maestros" ranked the Insight number one. Praising the Insight for its "attractive price" and real-world ergonomics, the editors especially liked the Insight's sporty handling and solid road manners, writing, "Body motions are few, the suspension is tight and difficult to disrupt, and someone even dialed in a touch of lift-throttle oversteer to help rotate that cliff of a tail." The editors particularly enjoyed the paddle shifters, stating, "One of the EX model's most endearing features is its paddle shifters.. In Sport mode the transmission is tenacious about holding onto those "gears"... and lent the driver a sense of involvement and control..."
The 2010 Honda Insight was named a 2009 Top 10 Green Car by Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com
Amidst formidable competition, Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com named the 2010 Insight one of its 2009 Top 10 Green Cars. Bringing the Insight to such heights was, of course, the Insight's 41 mpg overall fuel economy. Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com also liked the Insight's price, saying, ".the all-new Honda Insight is the least expensive full-production hybrid available in the U.S."
A glowing review from the editors of Motor Trend.
The March 2009 edition of Motor Trend heaped praise on the Insight for its driving manners and accessibility, "From the first turn of the key, the Insight is familiar and inviting. Honda owners will feel instantly at home in the cockpit." Motor Trend editors called the Insight "the driver's choice" with "light and precise" steering. Acknowledging the Insight's affordability, Motor Trend concludes, "Will consumers flock to a smaller hybrid, simply because it offers great green fun for fewer greenbacks? We think so."
Insight scores high marks from Car and Driver.
An article published in the March 2009 edition of Car and Driver praised the Insight for its sporty handling, excellent packaging and engaging feedback system. Confirming the fun-to-drive factor, Car and Driver states, "...the Insight drives like a Honda, with tight suspension motions, a firm ride, well-connected steering and no-fat musculature." And when comparing Insight's feedback technology to competitor systems, Car and Driver states, "...Honda's subtle shading is vastly more informative. It focuses the mind on the one essential issue of frugal driving..."
