The new Crosstour uses Honda’s Drive-by-Wire technology, a unique accelerator system that helps it more efficiently utilize power. Rather than creating a mechanical linkage from the accelerator to the fuel-injection throttle body, the Drive-by-Wire system uses electronic sensors. These are connected to the accelerator pedal and send signals to the powertrain control module (PCM) instead of using a cable.

The module measures pedal position, throttle butterfly position, the speed of the vehicle, and the speed of the engine in order to optimize engine response to suit driving conditions by giving it the right amount of gas. This allows the Crosstour to maintain its powerful performance with a fuel efficiency of *18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Built for multi-purpose utility, the 2012 Crosstour was designed to be cargo-ready. With the rear-seats folded down, it can hold up to 51.3 cubic feet of storage and comes with a hidden, removable utility box.

The Crosstour is also equipped with a 360-watt audio system that includes seven speakers and a subwoofer in the base model. In the Limited model, you get a six-speaker premium audio system with a subwoofer. Both trims come with a standard AM/FM radio with a six-disc in-dash CD changer and an MP3/auxiliary jack. The Limited model offers XM Radio capability and comes with a 90-day trial period.

The 2012 Honda Crosstour was awarded the J.D. Power and Associates award for “Highest Ranked Midsize Crossover/SUV in Intial Quality” in 2011. It also won Edmund’s Best Retained Value award for non-luxury brands as well as Greenest Automaker award by the Union of Concerned Scientists. The Crosstour sells for a starting price of $30,340.
