The 2017 Honda CR-V and Ridgeline Named to Car and Driver’s Prestigious 10Best Awards List*

December 20th, 2016 by

Both the 2017 Honda CR-V and Ridgeline have been named in the 2017 Car and Driver’s inaugural 2017 10Best Awards for Trucks and SUVs*. That made Honda the sole manufacturer to land two models on the 10Best list, so let’s explore how they got there.

The 2017 Car and Driver 10Best

The team over at Car and Driver just finished up with their first ever 10Best Truck and SUV list. Meant to help drivers navigate their way to the best model from America’s fastest growing automotive sector, the new 10Best list tested entrants in terms of:

2017 Honda CR-V Night

  • Ride and Handling
  • Comfort
  • Practicality
  • Fuel Efficiency
  • Technology
  • Safety

At the end of the day, the 2017 Honda CR-V and 2017 Honda Ridgeline both made the cut*.

The Honda CR-V

According to Car and Driver, “the CR-V has never been better than it is with the release of the all-new 2017 model.” Now able to fit Honda’s most powerful 1.5L turbo engine while still delivering class-leading fuel efficiency, Honda Sensing driving assistance technologies, and all-new features, it should come as no surprise to learn that the CR-V was named Car and Drivers’s Best Compact SUV* – “the compact crossover SUV distilled to its near-perfect essence”.

The Honda Ridgeline

Picking the 2017 Honda Ridgeline as their Best Mid-Size Pickup*, the editors at Car and Driver dubbed it a “clever and practical truck that combined the pleasurable driving characteristics of its passenger vehicles with enough capability to suit a large percentage of buyers.” Well, they’re not wrong. With a standard 3.5L V6 capable of 280-hp, 262 lb.-ft. of torque, 5,000 lbs. of maximum towing, and a Best-in-Class 1,584 lbs. maximum payload rating, it’s hard to imagine a driver who would ever yearn for something more powerful, and they’d have to forfeit the Ridgeline’s most innovative upgrades to get it. Features such as a dual-action tailgate, which opens from the side as well as from the bottom, and an in-bed sound system make the Ridgeline too tough to ignore.
