2014 Accord Plug-in Hybrid 770pxAs of early 2013, the all-new 2014 Accord Plug-In Hybrid will be on the market, which means drivers will get a chance to test drive it at Middletown Honda next year. It will feature all the luxuries of older Accord models, such as increased cabin space and state-of-the-art technologies.

Available in one trim level, the amenities are like those of the Accord Touring model: a multi-angle rearview camera, LED headlights, gray bio-fabric, the Smart Entry feature, and an expanded view driver’s mirror. There are plenty more reasons to get excited about this new evolution in hybrid technology.

Especially Great for City Drivers

The Accord Plug-In Hybrid is the first to use Honda’s two-motor hybrid system – Earth Dreams – which lets the powertrain move effortlessly between driving operations. Driving operations include the all-electric EV drive, gasoline-electric Hybrid Drive, and direct-engine drive.

For urban motorists, you will be excited to know that the EV drive allows you to drive your car on pure electric mode for 10-15 miles, depending on how you drive. When accelerating, like when you get on the highway, the gas engine will automatically turn on and give you that added power you need. When it decelerates, like when getting off at an exit, it will automatically turn on the EV mode again.

One safety feature that will get huge praise, especially among urban drivers who have various distractions and sometimes little space to move, is the LaneWatch System.  A small camera is inserted into the passenger side mirror that reveals your blind spot, which is displayed on your information screen. You can choose to view it all the time, never, or only when your right turn signal is on.

Similar to the 2013 Honda Accord, the new design increases fuel economy by having a decrease in drag. It’s sleek and takes on a more contemporary feel for a sedan. It has a distinctive front grille and lower facade, with blue accents on the aforementioned LED headlights. The shuriken-shaped wheels make sure this special Accord stands out compared to other, more traditional models.

The Accord Plug-In Hybrid is set to be truly unlike anything else on the road.
