2014 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite Now Comes With HondaVAC
Honda enthusiasts at the 2013 New York International Auto Show got their first look at the 2014 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite edition this week. Honda outfitted the new Odyssey Touring Elite with many premium entertainment and safety features, a sleek yet subtly redesigned exterior, and an integrated vacuum to clean the nooks and crannies of its interior. The Touring Elite trim comes with some of the latest technology to enhance driver and passenger convenience. Keyless Smart Entry, push button start, and HondaLink smart phone connectivity are now all included features. The 16.2-inch rear entertainment screen can be used to keep rear passengers occupied on road trips, and the integrated HondaVAC makes post-road trip clean up quite simple. Its hose, filter, bag, and nozzle accessories fit neatly in a dedicated compartment on the driver’s side of the rear cargo area.
Subtle changes to the Odyssey’s exterior enhance its premium appearance. The front end gets a more muscular hood, accompanied by new grille, fenders, and front fascia with integrated fog lights. In the rear, LED taillight bars and exclusive badging help to offer the Honda Odyssey a distinguished look.
Safety Inside and Out
An array of active and passive safety features look to continue the Odyssey’s IIHS Top Safety Pick trend. New features such as lane departure warning, blind spot detection, and forward collision warning enhance highway safety while the rear view camera and parking sensors are helpful in driveways and parking lots. The HondaLink system also helps drivers avoid distractions with the option of reading text messages, Tweets, and Facebook status updates aloud.
Engine and Fuel Economy
The 3.5L V6 powering the 2013 Odyssey is unlikely to change for the 2014 model. Nevertheless, the Odyssey’s V6 performs surprisingly well for its class with 248 hp, 250 lb-ft of torque, and 0-60 mph acceleration time of 7.9 seconds.
