2015 Honda HR-V

The 2016 Honda HR-V debut is fast approaching. The first look at Honda’s new light truck model will happen at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Pictures indicate a contemporary urban design, and the HR-V is expected to be a versatile compact SUV. Positioned below the CR-V in price and size, the HR-V will be the base model for the Honda light truck lineup. To prepare for the big reveal, we’ve put together a review of what we know so far.

Flexible Function and Performance

The HR-V is built from the same frame that gives the Honda Fit its versatility. The HR-V will be able to take on a variety of driving situations, from urban streets to open highways. It combines urban design, flexible handling, and suburban functionality and space. Features like the flat-folding rear Magic Seats and revolutionary center tank layout maximize the interior space to increase total cargo capacity.

Sleek Design Inside and Out

Priced as an entry-level vehicle, the 2016 Honda HR-V still looks like a top-of-the-line model. It sports an upscale, urban design and sleek edges and curves. Diamond-shaped headlights and a cutting-edge grille design grace the front of the HR-V. On the sides, a stylish swoosh cuts across above the hidden rear door handles. Though we haven’t seen the inside, we can only assume the superior quality of the design will extend to the interior.

Power Fit for an SUV

Less is known about the engine options in the upcoming HR-V, but it is rumored the HR-V will share the same 1.5L four-cylinder engine as the Fit. This engine pulls off 130 hp and is matched to a continuously variable transmission. A turbocharged engine option is likely to be made available to Mechanicstown drivers looking for more power.
