What Happens When 800 Pounds of Rock Fall Onto a Ridgeline?

July 20th, 2016 by

At first glance, the idea of a composite truck bed might seem like a questionable choice when compared to either steel or aluminum, but a recent 800-pound block-drop challenge proves that Goshen and Monroe drivers will get a whole lot more by going composite with the 2017 Honda Ridgeline. Not only is the truck bed of the Ridgeline durable and more rugged than competitors, but it also offers a number of unique features that you won’t find elsewhere.

The Results of the Rock-Drop Challenge

Autoblog confirms that, in a recent test that was filmed in front of several journalists, the Ridgeline showed little to no damage when 800 pounds of landscaping blocks were dropped into the truck bed. A similar test was done with the 2016 Chevy Silverado and the 2016 Ford F-150 to see whether steel or aluminum was stronger, but what they didn’t consider was that composite was actually the winner by a long shot. Both the Chevy and the Ford had noticeable dents and damage after performing the test, while the 2017 Honda Ridgeline did not. Autoblog did a visual check after the test and said “there was basically no damage to Honda’s truck.”

2017 Honda Ridgeline Truck Bed Features

2017 Honda Ridgeline open gateThe 2017 Ridgeline is smarter than most other trucks, especially when it comes to the truck bed. It offers Goshen and Monroe drivers the capability to haul things of different sizes and shapes with ease and versatility. For starters, the tailgate opens both horizontally and vertically, so you’ll be able to get all sorts of cargo in more easily.

Within the truck bed, there are also minimal wheel well housings to maximize the width of the bed for wider objects. If you need to power up some tools for the job, you’ll be able to do so with the available 150W/400W Trunk-Bed Outlet located right in the wall of the truck bed. There’s also a lockable, 7.3-cubic-foot In-Bed Trunk, which also has a drain plug so you can use it to store your food, drinks, or your wet gear. Since the trunk tucks away below the bed, you won’t lose cargo space either.

To keep the party going no matter where you are, available built-in speakers with Bluetooth technology allow you to play your music right from the truck bed. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline bed features help to make it a tailgater’s dream!
