2017 Honda Ridgeline

Trucks are the workhorses of the automotive world, so many Goshen and Monroe drivers likely haven’t expected innovation from this segment — but the 2017 Honda Ridgeline has changed all that. While retaining the power and practicality you’d expect from a pickup truck, Honda has added a range of cutting-edge features that set this one apart from anything you’ve seen before.

Changes for 2017

The Honda Ridgeline has been extensively redesigned for 2017. Goshen and Monroe drivers who get behind the wheel will enjoy an increase in horsepower, exceptional fuel economy, a choice of two-wheel or all-wheel drive, and a wide selection of upgraded technologies. They’ll also benefit from the most innovative truck beds on the market.

Powertrains and MPG

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline doesn’t mess around when it comes to power — each and every model is fitted with a 3.5L direct-injected i-VTEC V6 engine. It is able to deliver up to 280 hp — that’s an increase of 30 hp compared to the previous Ridgeline’s engine. The outdated five-speed transmission has also been replaced by a six-speed automatic alternative, and front-wheel drive is an option for the first time.

Upgraded materials and engineering breakthroughs mean that you’ll be able to achieve up to 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway* with front-wheel-drive models or 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway* with all-wheel drive. Those exceptional efficiency scores might make you wonder if the Ridgeline’s capability suffers as a result, but a quick look is enough to demonstrate just how unjustified such fears are:

  • Payload: All-wheel-drive Ridgeline models are able to carry up to 1,584 pounds.
  • Towing: With all-wheel drive, the Ridgeline can tow up to 5,000 pounds, and it comes equipped with a 2-inch receiver trailer hitch, seven-pin trailer light socket, and pigtail in case you want to add an electric trailer brake controller.

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline has been designed to combine the functionality and practicality of a truck with the comfort that Goshen and Monroe drivers expect from an SUV or crossover; that’s why you’ll find seating for 5 people in the Ridgeline.

Available features such as an 8-inch touchscreen display, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a 10-way driver’s seat allow you and your passengers to enjoy every journey. If you need a little more space for the weekly shop, camping gear, or larger pieces of cargo that you aren’t comfortable putting in the rear, just flip up the 60/40-split lift-up rear seats.

The redesign of the Ridgeline has seen a wide array of upgrades, with the most celebrated innovations centering around the bed:

  • Dual-Action Tailgate: Unlike other truck beds, the Ridgeline’s features a tailgate that can be swung open from the side as well as dropped down.
  • In-Bed Audio System: If you like tailgating, make sure you take advantage of the Ridgeline’s available in-bed sound system,
  • In-Bed Trunk: Providing the best of both worlds, the Ridgeline offers a handy lockable trunk within the bed itself. There’s even a plug in case you want to fill it with ice and use it as an on-the-go cooler.

These features have naturally stolen the limelight, but the Ridgeline provides much more than just an innovative bed. You’ll also find HondaLink, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™ technology inside to let you connect up your smartphone, and a multi-angle rearview camera with Wide, Normal, and Top-Down viewing modes. It also features a remote engine start system to get her running before you enter and either preheat or precool the cabin.

Safety Features

The new Ridgeline is equipped with Honda’s ACE (Advanced Compatibility Engineering) body structure to direct harmful impact energy away from occupants in the event of a collision, and it also comes standard with anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, daytime running lights, and a multi-angle rearview camera.

Those standard features place it among the most advanced trucks on the road, but the Ridgeline still isn’t done. Goshen and Monroe drivers will also be able to take advantage of the following advanced driver-assistance technologies:

  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
