The Everlasting Honda Accord and Honda Civic

Honda Civic LX SedanTo make her son invincible, Achilles’s mother dipped him into the River Styx by the heel. Honda must have done the same with the Accord and Civic models, dipping them in the drink by the tires. While Achilles’s vulnerability was his heel, requiring only a well placed arrow to the foot to send him packing, all the Accord and Civic seem to require are regular tire rotations and replacements to keep on going.

Okay. We’re not implying the Accord and Civic are invincible. If you dropped a house on one, they might show a little wear. But the way that Honda fans talk, you might think that they are. Even casual drivers will tell you how impressed they are with their old Accord and Civic models. With a low cost of ownership, simple maintenance, and a streak for safety a mile long, both the Accord and the Civic give more than what most drivers could ever expect in a car.

Impressive Safety Record

Both the current 2013 Honda Accord and Civic models have been awarded with a 2013 Top Safety Pick+ awards by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the industry leader in vehicle safety testing. The “+” in the title indicates that both models have passed IIHS’ new moderate overlap front test, a type of crash typically considered more dangerous than others. Despite being a test that some vehicles are not ready for, Honda, true to style, passed with flying colors.

Manufactured Right Here in the USA

One of the best parts about the Accord and the Civic is that most of them are manufactured right here in the United States. Honda opened a plant in Marysville, Ohio, in 1982 to start production of the Accord and followed it with another plant opening in East Liberty, Ohio two years later. These plants continue to be important economic staples in their communities, creating not only jobs at their plant, but numerous other jobs that help to support production.
